Finding Your Village: A Guide to Local Baby Groups and Connection

One of the biggest shifts in motherhood is realising that we weren’t meant to do this alone. I remember so clearly the days when the house felt a little too quiet, or the “to-do” list felt a little too long. In those moments, it wasn’t about “being busy” – it was about finding a soft place to land among other parents who “got it.”

I created my Resources Page not to encourage a jam-packed schedule, but to act as a gentle safety net. It’s there so that on the days you do feel like stepping out, you don’t have to waste your energy searching; you can just look at the map of our community and see who is gathering nearby. I even made sure that where possible, the activities are linked so you can go straight to the booking page or further details with just a click!

Connection Over Solitude

Building your village looks different for everyone. For some, it’s a weekly rhythm; for others, it’s a spontaneous decision on a Tuesday morning. Having a sense of what’s happening in East Grinstead, Horley, and Horsham means that when you’re ready for a chat and a cup of tea, you know exactly where to find your people.

Local Pockets of Support

Our corner of West Sussex and Surrey is full of wonderful, low-pressure spaces where you can simply be with your baby:

  • For a Gentle Start: If you’re near Crawley, the Rhyme Time sessions at Crawley Library are a lovely way to ease into the day without any pressure to perform.
  • For toys galore: Groups like Little Builders in Horsham or the HBC Toddlers in Horley are a haven for energetic toddlers and create a space for parents to connect whilst children play.
  • For a Change of Scenery: If you find yourself near Forest Row or East Grinstead, a trip to Play Town role play cafe offers a chance for your little one to explore while you take a moment to reset.

It Takes a Village (And You Deserve One)

Whether you are attending my Mother and Baby Yoga Circle in Copthorne or just meeting a friend at a play café in Ifield, these groups are the building blocks of your support system.

Motherhood is a transition that deserves to be held by a community. If you ever feel like the village is hard to find, please know that I am here to help bridge the gap—whether that’s through my resources list, postpartum doula support, or a simple check-in.
You don’t need to be busy every day. But on the days you want to be seen, heard, and supported, there is a seat at the table for you.

Explore the local group directory here and find your village.

Whether it’s through a closing ceremony, breastfeeding support, or just a helping hand during those early weeks, don’t hesitate to reach out via my contact form.
