Four ways to honour your pregnancy
Being pregnant is such a unique and special time, you may have been through a long and difficult journey to get to this stage and be wondering how you can truly honour your pregnancy? The following ideas will be beneficial for your pregnant body and mental health but will also create memories to last a lifetime.
- Move your beautiful body
Supporting your body throughout one of life’s biggest transformations is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, as pregnancy can be challenging on the body, causing aches and various ailments.
Joining a prenatal class such as yoga or pilates can make the world of difference to how your body feels and a great way to get those endorphins going! If you’re local to Crawley, Copthorne, East Grinstead, Horley, Lingfield, Crawley Down, Gatwick, Felbridge or Forest Row, you can find my pregnancy yoga class timetable here.

- Carve out time to connect
Celebrating the divine feminine, Shakti, by connecting to all around us can be such a beautiful way to honour the miracle that is childbearing.
Intentionally carving out time to do this, be it a day retreat or a 10 minute meditation. Feel your feet in the ground, connect with nature around you and remind yourself of just how incredible you and your body are.
I host confident birthing pregnancy retreats in Sussex and Surrey, with my co-host, a Homebirth Midwife. You can read more about our upcoming retreats here or you can watch a reel on instagram with previous footage here.

- Have a Mother Blessing
A sacred tradition originating from the Navajo people, a mother blessing is a ceremony which is held to celebrate and honour the mother to be. In the western world this has been replaced with a ‘baby shower’ – the main difference being that a mother blessing showers the mother, rather than the baby.
Ask your closest friends to organise this for you with a doula who can hold the space and ensure you leave the day feeling full of love and confident for your journey ahead.
I absolutely love preparing Mother Blessings for women, these days can be completely bespoke to you and can be arranged in a way that means you don’t have to do any organising! You can read more about this offering here.

- Create your village
We hear so much ‘it takes a village’ and it really does! But sometimes we need to be prepared to reach out and rally those around to secure that village.
Why not ask your best girlfriends to come round one day and batch cook wholesome foods for that all important fourth trimester or help with giving the house a good spring clean before baby arrives.
Preparing those around you for the help you’ll need once baby arrives can be a beautiful way to honour the transition you are making into motherhood.
Have you moved away from family and friends and are entering into Motherhood? Hiring a postpartum doula and having this service in place for when baby arrives can be the greatest gift you will ever give you and your family. If you are local to Crawley, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Forest Row, you can explore my postpartum doula support packages here.
